PAYMENT DISPUTE & CHARGEBACK HANDLING POLICY
1. Purpose
This policy governs disputes, chargebacks, and payment reversals initiated by customers, banks, or payment networks.
2. What is a Chargeback?
A chargeback occurs when a customer disputes a payment directly with their bank or card issuer instead of contacting Tharagais.
3. Dispute Resolution Process
Before initiating a chargeback, customers are encouraged to:
- Contact Tharagais customer support.
- Allow reasonable time for resolution under the Refund Policy.
Most issues can be resolved without involving banks.
4. Chargeback Handling Procedure
When a chargeback is initiated:
- The disputed amount may be temporarily debited by the payment gateway.
- Tharagais will review transaction logs, delivery confirmation, and communication records.
- Supporting evidence may be submitted to the issuing bank.
5. Valid vs. Invalid Chargebacks
Valid Reasons:
- Unauthorized transaction
- Non-delivery of product
- Duplicate charge
Invalid Reasons:
- Attempt to bypass return policy
- Dispute after successful delivery
- Claiming fraud after receiving product
- Not recognizing descriptor without contacting support
Fraudulent chargebacks may result in:
- Account suspension
- Legal recovery proceedings
- Blacklisting from future transactions
6. Seller Settlement During Chargeback
If a chargeback occurs:
- Seller settlement for the disputed transaction may be temporarily withheld.
- Liability may be determined based on fault (customer misuse, seller fault, or platform process gap).
Final settlement will follow payment gateway and banking decision.
7. Refund vs. Chargeback
Customers are advised:
- Refunds initiated through Tharagais are processed within 5–7 business days.
- Chargebacks may take 30–90 days depending on bank review.
Initiating a chargeback while a refund is in progress may delay resolution.
